The National Identification Authority has cautioned Ghanaians against allowing institutions such as banks to photocopy their Ghana card.
According to the NIA, the photocopying of Ghana cards by institution such as banks in the name of verifying identification should not be allowed by card holders.
In a video shared by GHOne TV on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the NIA said it is not permitted and goes against data protection guidelines.
“We are pleading with the public not to allow any institution to do photocopy of their Ghana card. it is not permitted and goes against data protection guidelines.”
The NIA added that most of the institutions are resulting to photocopying the Ghana cards of applicants because they have refused to subscribe to the verification platform of NIA.
“Instead of subscribing to our verification platform and getting the right information, most of these institutions have resulting to taking physical Ghana cards from applicants and making photocopies of them.”
