Communications Team Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, has criticized the Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and questioned her relevance and performance in office.
According to him, the Vice President has failed to show any meaningful policy leadership or implementation since assuming office, describing her tenure as the worst one Ghana has experienced.
Speaking on Joy Prime and monitored by NewsDesksGH on December 8, Mr. Gyewu-Appiah openly questioned the Vice President’s visibility and contributions.
“Do we even have a Vice President in this country? This Vice President is the worst Vice President we’ve ever experienced.”
He said his criticism was based on policy implementation, and argued that no significant initiatives could be traced to her office so far.
“Since she has been in office what has she done? Tell me one thing.”
Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah went on to compare Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s tenure to that of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, insisting the difference in impact was clear.
“If you compare Dr. Naana Jane with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia we see a clear difference. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia instituted a lot of policies whiles he was the Vice President.”
He cited initiatives such as the Ghana Card at Birth project which links birth certificates to national identification, the installation of street CCTV cameras across the country to fight crime, and the implementation of mobile money interoperability which enables seamless transfers between mobile networks and bank accounts.
“I think that she should take an early shower, go home and take care of her grandchildren,” added the NPP Communications team member.
