Delegations on Mahama’s Japan, Singapore trip must be disclosed – Ekow Vincent Assafuah

Old Tafo Member of Parliament, Ekow Vincent Assafuah, has called for full disclosure of the delegation accompanying President John Mahama on his official trip to Japan and Singapore.

According to Ekow Vincent Assafuah, the public has only been told that the President is traveling to seek investment, but details on the trip remain shrouded in secrecy.

Sharing his concerns on UTV, Ekow Vincent Assafuah stressed on the need for transparency from the Government, asking “What time did they leave? Why are we not knowing the delegations? Why are they hiding those things from us?”

The MP further questioned, “Which people is he going with? Are you aware? Is he going with his minister of trade? Are you aware? Which flight did they go with? Did they go with the same flight that the president went with?”

Ekow Vincent Assafuah explained that his concerns centered on three key issues.

“1, the cost to the state is my worry. 2, the people he travelled with is my worry and 3, the lack of transparency surrounding this whole issue as far as the president’s traveling is concerned is also my worry.” he said.

President Mahama departed Accra on Sunday, August 17, for official visits to Japan and Singapore to strengthen bilateral ties and attract investment, according to an earlier statement from the Presidency.
