Yakubu Abanga Alhassan, an executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has denied allegations of involvement in illegal mining activities.
The allegations were reportedly made by the Concerned Small-Scale Miners Association of Ghana (CSSMAG).
Alhassan stated, “Let me place it on record, without ambiguity: I have absolutely no hand in, and I know nothing about these allegations. I challenge anyone who claims otherwise to be bold and point to me directly. If I have ever extorted money from any miner or seized any equipment, let them mention my name publicly.”
He said this after a directive was issued to Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) by Attorney General, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine to investigate Yakubu Abanga Alhassan and Joseph Yamin, NDC’s national organizer on grounds of running an unauthorized anti-galamsey task force.
