Children Support Fund of helicopter crash victims now at GH¢3.5m and US$20,000

The office of the Presidency has announced that the Children’s Support Fund established for the welfare of the children of victims of the August 6 tragedy has now reached a total sum of GH¢3,576,600 and US$20,000.

President Mahama announced the establishment of this fund on Friday, August 15, following the death of 8 persons in the helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom on Wednesday, August 6.

In a press release issued on Friday, August 29, 2025, the Presidency listed 14 donors who contributed between August 19 and August 28, after their previous update.

The are Ghana Airport Ltd, Kennedy Hedoe, Peter Adongo, Mensah Michael, Appaul Wiredu Lateef, Samuel Hodalor, Dauda Iddi, ARB Apex Bank PLC, STL Foundation, Olam Agric, Fidelity Bank Ghana, ADB Bank, GLICO General Insurance, and the National Insurance Commission.

The statement also indicated how to go about making donations to the Children’s Support Fund.

“Donations may be made to the Fund via the following Stanbic Bank Limited Accounts (Stanbic Heights Branch, Accra):

Ghana Cedi (GHS) Account: 9040013628372

US Dollar (USD) Account: 9040013628534

Cheques and bank drafts should be made payable to: CHILDREN SUPPORT FUND 6825.

The Presidency once again assured that a list of donors will be provided weekly for transparency.

The fund was established to secure the future of the children of the 8 who perished in the crash on 6th August in Adansi Akrofuom, plunging the state into a sense of mourning.

They were Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress; Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
