Supporters of former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame got into a confrontation with police officers outside the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra earlier today.
The confrontation occurred as Mr. Dame appeared at the CID on October 6 for questioning following an invitation linked to a petition from businessman Richard Jakpa, who accused the former Attorney General of fabricating evidence in the Republic v. Ato Forson trial.
According to footages from the media, tensions escalated when CID officers instructed Mr. Dame’s supporters to disperse and leave the premises.
The group, however, resisted, leading to a brief but heated exchange with police officers stationed at the entrance of the headquarters.
The standoff was however quickly brought under control.
