Supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have stormed the headquarters of the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) to protest the detention of Chairman Wontumi.
Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP was transferred to the NIB office at Ridge after being held in the custody of Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for more than 48 hours.
With Wontumi yet to meet his bail condition of GH¢50 million with two sureties, he was transferred from the EOCO office to NIB on the afternoon of Friday, May 30, 2025.
Sympathizers of the Chairman Wontumi after hearing the news about his transfer to the NIB office have gathered to protest the detention of aforementioned as they demand for his immediately release.
