Ghanaian boxer Braimah Isaac Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, has issued a public apology following the alleged machete attack involving his son, Mustapha Kamoko, appealing to traditional authorities and the Bukom community to help facilitate reconciliation with the victim’s family.
According to Bukom Banku, while he does not condone his son’s actions, he accepts responsibility as a parent and is seeking forgiveness on behalf of his family, describing the incident as deeply regrettable.
Speaking in a video shared on social media on January 8, Bukom Banku publicly apologised to the victim’s family and residents of Bukom, admitting that his son and his associates acted wrongly.
Bukom Banku also appealed to the Ga traditional authorities and community leaders to assist him in formally apologising to the affected family.
“The youth has refused to take advice so we have to leave them for them to realize what they did to get them into this problem. By that they will understand that it is not an easy task growing a white beard. The traditional authorities are our leaders so their rules must be followed because we the citizens are just the legs and the elders are the head. I am just appealing to the Ga traditional authorities to support me to apologize to the affected families.”
Mustapha Kamoko, the son of the boxer, is accused of attacking a man identified as Lord Abbey, also known as Laud Abbey, with a cutlass on December 31, 2025, at Ga Mashie, popularly known as Bukom.
The victim survived the attack but sustained injuries. In a video shared shortly after the incident, Lord Abbey was seen narrating how the assault occurred on the night of December 31, 2025.
Reports indicate that the victim’s family rejected an initial settlement offer, and Mustapha Kamoko is currently facing charges as police investigations into the incident continue.
This is not the first time Bukom Banku and his son have encountered legal trouble. In early 2023, both the boxer and Mustapha Kamoko were involved in a separate court case over a stabbing incident, with charges including abetment.
