Bosquet Investments to buy 21.22% stake in Ecobank from Nedbank

Bosquet Investments Ltd, the private investment company of Alain Nkontchou, has reached an agreement to purchase a 21.22% stake in Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) from Nedbank Group Ltd.

According to Nedbank Group, the sale was part of its decision to realign its strategy towards its core markets in Southern and Eastern Africa, where it owns and operates businesses. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals.

In a press release on 15th August 2025, Alain Nkontchou expressed his enthusiasm regarding this development.

He said, “I am very pleased to have come thus far with the Ecobank Group, and I look forward to supporting the institution in advancing its strategic objectives of growth, transformation and returns. I am confident that, together, we will seize the opportunities ahead and lead the organisation into a new era of sustained success.”

Enko Capital Management LLP acted as the lead advisor for the transaction, while Absa Bank Limited (through its Corporate and Investment Banking division) served as co-financial advisor.

He also expressed a deep appreciation to Nedbank for 17 years of constructive partnership saying that they remain a valued commercial partner of Ecobank.

Ecobank Group is present in 35 sub-Saharan African countries, as well as France, the UK, UAE, and China.

Bosquet Investments is owned by Alain Nkontchou, who also co-founded Enko Capital, an African-focused asset management group with about US$1.2 billion in assets.
