Any attack on military and civilians in Bawku will be met with full and deliberate strength – Ghana Armed Forces

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has threatened to respond with full and deliberate strength to any attack on the military deployed to help restore peace and stability in Bawku.

During a working visit to the region, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, strongly condemned the recent attacks on security personnel and civilians while stating that the Ghana Armed Forces are going to respond with full strength.

He described the acts as cowardly and assured that the military would respond with full force to those behind the unrest.

“I want to assure the people of Bawku and the entire nation that the Ghana Armed Forces is committed to its responsibility of protecting lives and priorities. We will not relent on our efforts to create any environment needed for peace and security.”

“Let me serve a word of caution to all especially those stirring up the trouble in Bawku that they their days are numbered. Any attack on innocent civilians or any military personnel will be considered as an act of extremism and will be met with the deliberate full strength of our forces,” he said.

Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu also urged the youths in Bawku to lay down their arms and return to peace because there is no peace in destroying your own country or community.

“There will be no safe haven for those who chose the path of violence, we will pursue every individual involved and justice will be served. We urge the youths to lay down their arms and return to the path of peace because your future does not lie in bloodshed but in building your country.”
