The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha has expressed outrage about the kind of treatment being meted to members of the NPP.
He described it as harassment of NPP party members by the police
His comments follow the remand of NPP’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, into police custody after he was denied bail today.

Abronye DC is expected to reappear before court on Friday, September 12.
Leaving the court, Abronye was put at the back of special police vehicles called the ‘Black Maria’, which led to outrage and protests from NPP party members and supporters present.

Speaking to the media outside the Accra Circuit Court on September 9, Salam Mustapha angrily condemned the treatment of Abronye.
“This thing has gotten to its peak. The harassment of NPP people. Look at how chairman has been treated like a petty criminal,” he said.
Salem Mustapha argued that remanding Abronye and denying him bail over such an offence was unnecessary and undermined Ghana’s democratic values.
“Total waste of national resources and everybody’s time, because of ‘misdemeanor’. These things are an affront to a democracy we are all building,” he said.
“We are going to demonstrate against the police. Me, the national youth organizer I’m going to lead it,” noted Salem Mustapha.
He further accused the police of infringing on the fundamental human rights of Abronye DC, adding, “When did we get to this level in Ghana?”
Abronye DC was arrested on Monday, 8 September 2025, on charges of offensive conduct conducive to breach of the peace.
He was arraigned before the Circuit Court today September 9, where the presiding judge ordered remanded him to police custody.
