Young Ghanaian Lawyer Dies Amid Jubilation Over Black Stars’ Win

A 26-year-old lawyer, Sara Araba Tettey, has reportedly died after collapsing while celebrating Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Panama at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The incident is said to have occurred on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Standard Hostel in Bomso, near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where Ms. Tettey had gathered with friends to watch the match.

According to eyewitness accounts, she suddenly collapsed shortly after Ghana secured the winning goal. She was immediately rushed to the KNUST Hospital, where medical personnel reportedly administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for approximately 45 minutes in an effort to revive her.

Despite the medical team’s efforts, she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Ms. Tettey was an alumna of the KNUST Faculty of Law and was called to the Ghana Bar in October 2025. She was working with O and A Legal Consult at the time of her death.

Her body has since been deposited at the KNUST Medical School Mortuary pending further investigations.
