Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu Is Not Under House Arrest - Felix Kwakye

The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed claims that former MASLOC Chief Executive Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu is under house arrest, insisting that she remains in the lawful custody of the Ghana Prison Service.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on Wednesday, June 17, Mr Kwakye Ofosu said Madam Tamakloe-Attionu is serving her sentence under the supervision of the Prison Service, which is responsible for the welfare, management and placement of inmates.

“She is in the custody of the Ghana Prison Service. They know how to handle people. If somebody needs help there, they know how to take care of her. I can assure you, and let me put it on record, she is not in any house. She is not under any house arrest,” he stated.

The minister also rejected suggestions that a senior government official had informed IMANI Africa President Franklin Cudjoe that Madam Tamakloe-Attionu was under house arrest, challenging him to provide evidence.

“If Franklin Cudjoe tells you that, he is not telling you the truth. Let him name the so-called top government official who told him that,” he said.

Addressing questions about Madam Tamakloe-Attionu’s health, Mr Kwakye Ofosu said it was not the government’s responsibility to disclose details of any inmate’s medical condition, stressing that such matters fall within the mandate of the Ghana Prison Service.

“I don’t have information on her medical condition. It is not my place to discuss it,” he noted.

According to him, decisions regarding the management of prisoners, including where they serve their sentences, are solely the responsibility of the Prison Service, which will communicate officially when necessary.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu reiterated that Madam Tamakloe-Attionu remains in lawful custody and urged the public to disregard unsubstantiated claims regarding her status.
