The Apostolic Church of Ghana has officially prohibited the practice of kissing the bride during wedding ceremonies held before the altar.
The decision, endorsed by the Council of Apostles and Prophets, was adopted at the Church’s 6th General Council Meeting at the TAC Conference Centre.
Church President Ami-Narh explained that the move is aimed at addressing what he described as excesses and inappropriate practices that have become common in modern weddings.
According to an official statement, the Church has removed the “you may kiss the bride” segment from its marriage rites, citing concerns about its incompatibility with Ghanaian cultural and spiritual values.
The statement acknowledged that while such practices may be acceptable in some Western cultures, they do not align with the principles upheld by the Church.
The Council also warned members against engaging in suggestive and inappropriate pre-wedding photoshoots, urging couples to maintain modesty and dignity.
President Ami-Narh stressed the need to preserve the sanctity of marriage and promote Christian values before couples arrive at the altar.
