An 18-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a security officer at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, formerly Ridge Hospital.
The incident occurred on February 18, 2026, at about 7 p.m. at the hospital’s Labour Ward.
According to hospital officials, the security officer had instructed the suspect, identified as Gabriel Dimson, to move to the reception area because standing at the ward entrance outside approved visiting hours was not permitted.
Officials and witnesses said the teenager, who was accompanying his mother and a friend, allegedly refused to comply with the directive.
He is reported to have pushed the officer to the ground and physically assaulted him in the process.
The officer fell unconscious and was immediately attended to by doctors on duty.
Authorities have now arrested the suspect and commenced investigations as steps are taken toward prosecution.
