Parliament officially resumes sitting today, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 12:00 noon, marking the commencement of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
According to Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, who addressed the media regarding the session on February 3, the major part of the session will be the President’s presentation of the State of the Nation Address, in line with constitutional requirements.
“The major highlight of this meeting will be the President’s presentation of the state of the nation’s report to Parliament pursuant to the constitutional obligation that he has,” he said.
He explained that the House will also focus on passing bills that could not be considered during the previous session due to the budget process.
“We will this meeting be focusing on passing bills that we could not pass in the last meeting. If you’ll recall a number of bills came and we couldn’t take them because we were busy with the budget,” Hon. Ayariga stated.
The Majority Leader also added that some ministers are expected to introduce new bills for parliamentary consideration.
He further noted that leadership is already engaging with ministers to align their legislative priorities.
“As we speak, we’re actually having meeting with the ministers to have a sense of every minister’s agenda for Parliament, what approvals they would need during this meeting of Parliament.”
