The Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutoum Constituency and spokesperson for Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dickson Adomako Kissi, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party to unite behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia following his victory in the party’s presidential primaries.
According to him, the outcome of the elections presents an opportunity for the party to put aside internal competition and work collectively towards the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on Joy Prime on February 2, Dickson Adomako Kissi congratulated the party and its newly elected flagbearer.
“I’ll take this opportunity to congratulate the entire party to beging with and most definitely the flagberer of the party , Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he said.
He stressed the need for unity within the party going forward, adding, “It’s time to put everything behind and rally behind the elephant, and as it is bring the elephant from the forest into town.”
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged as the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer after securing 110,645 votes, representing 56.48 per cent of the total valid votes cast, eliminating the need for a run-off.

He described the candidates results as a good show for his first entrance.
“Bryan Acheampong, who I supported in the entire programme for his very tough, bold, approach to things. Though we were hopeful to win, it didn’t turn out that way. But I’m sure based on the good show for our new entrance I’m very positive that at least our message was received.”
He further praised the conduct of the elections and the institutions involved, describing the process as peaceful and orderly.
“The Electoral Commission carried themselves well. Things were orderly. The delegates themselves too I commend them. I haven’t heard of schemishes in terms of fighting and things of that sort. Also the police service, the presence was felt and security was too notch.”
