President John Dramani Mahama has assured families of men and women in the Ghana Police Service that they will be safe, and guaranteed of their return from security missions.
According to him, his government is committed to ensuring the safety of all security personnel as they carry out their duties.
Speaking at the handing over of 40 Armoured Vehicles to the Police Administration on 4th December 2025, President Mahama said the investment forms part of efforts to better equip officers for dangerous operations.
“Too often we’ve sent them on missions and assignments without providing them with the appropriate equipment to ensure their safety,” he said.
The event, he added, is part of a significant national retooling effort aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Ghana Police Service in maintaining law and order and enhancing national security.
He also commended the bravery of the Ghana Police.
“I salute the courageous men of the Ghana Police Service,” the President said.
“Those who rush towards danger when all of us are running away and those who stand guard over us while we enjoy a good nights sleep,” he added.
He said their sacrifices are recognised and deeply valued by the state.
He further acknowledged the impact that service will have on the families of Police persons, and assured of their safety.
“To your families who carry the emotional burden of your duty, we say the state is committed to improving officer safety and reducing operational risks,”
“We’ll make sure your husbands or your wives come back in good health and safe whenever they go on missions,” he assured.
He explained that the newly procured armoured vehicles will play a crucial role in boosting officer protection across the country.
“These vehicles will be strategically deployed nationwide based on intelligence and risk assessment,” the President noted.
