The family of the former Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), late Samuel Aboagye is seeking a court order to compel his widow, Mrs. Abigail Aboagye, to conduct a DNA test on their theee year old child.
The lawsuit was filed in the Obuasi District Court and was heard on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
The family argued that the test is necessary to confirm the paternity of the child following Samuel Aboagye’s death in the August 6, 2025 Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash, which killed eight people, including Samuel Aboagye who was also NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East.
Nana Kwabena Gyamera Oyiakwan II, Chief of Adansi Kwapia and elder brother of the late Samuel Aboagye, alleged that the deceased had always doubted the paternity of his three-year-old child.
According to him, Abigail Aboagye was aware that her husband had raised these doubts while he was alive.

Speaking to the media after court proceedings on November 11, Nana Oyiakwan II said, “When the helicopter crash happened, our younger brother Samuel Aboagye was among the victims.
He continued, “When the bodies were taken to Accra, the families were asked to identify them through DNA tests. I went and called his wife, who was in America, to bring the child for the DNA and she agreed but she never did.”
“They later took my DNA sample, as well as samples from my mother and another child Samuel had with a different woman, to help identify the bodies. But when Samuel was alive, he doubted the paternity of this particular child and the mother is aware of that. So when she refused to bring the child for the DNA test, we were not convinced.”
“After the funeral, she asked that we perform all the traditional rites and let her return to her family house but when we requested to conduct the test, she refused,” he claimed.
The court has adjourned the case to December 23, 2025.
