We will not shield any soldier that assaults civilians - Armed Forces

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has assured the public that it will not condone or protect any soldier involved in acts of assault against civilians.

This follows the arrest of a soldier captured in a viral CCTV video assaulting a pharmacy attendant and a female customer at a Burma Camp drugstore on Wednesday, October 29.

In a press release dated October 30, 2025, and signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the Armed Forces confirmed that the soldier was arrested by Military Police at dawn on Thursday, October 30.

“The Ghana Armed Forces has arrested the soldier seen in a viral video on GhOne TV and other social media platforms assaulting a drug store attendant and a female customer on Wednesday 29 October 2025 at a pharmacy in Burma Camp,” the statement said.

The statement added that the suspect is assisting with investigations, while the victims have received medical attention and are also cooperating with authorities.

“The Armed Forces assures the general public that it will not condone any acts of assault on civilians and will not shield any soldier engaged in such,” the release added.
