I will put Hopeson Adorye in his place if he threatens former second lady - Former NPP Youth Organizer

Former Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Blue Army Commander, Moses Abor, has strongly condemned  Hopeson Adorye over comments he made about former Second Lady Hajia Samira Bawumia.

According to Mr. Abor, he will personally confront Mr. Adorye ‘man to man’ should he attempt to threaten or disrespect Mrs. Bawumia in any public encounter.

During an interview on Class TV on Tuesday, October 21, Mr. Adorye, known for his involvement with first the NPP and then the Movement for Change, addressed an incident where he was captured on video seemingly being ignored by Mrs. Bawumia at the 40-day observation of the late Apostle Safo Kantanka.

In the interview with Class TV, he questioned her, saying “who are you,” and alleged that she is from Niger trying to be First Lady.

He went on to add that with her attitude, “she won’t get it,” and stressed that at the next public event where they meet, “we will see the disrespect I will give her.”

However, in a press statement issued on October 22, Mr. Abor expressed outrage at Mr. Adorye’s remarks, describing them as unprovoked, disrespectful, and distasteful.

“Mr. Adorye launched a vicious and shameful personal attack on the integrity and personality of Madam Samira Bawumia, a woman who has served Ghana with humility, elegance, and distinction. His comments were reckless, misogynistic, and completely unbecoming of a man who once associated himself with the NPP tradition.”

He said it was not surprising that Mr. Adorye is no longer a member of the NPP.

“His conduct and utterances have long contradicted the discipline, decency, and decorum that define the NPP’s values and ethos.”

Mr. Abor warned that the NPP has men who will not hesitate to confront such behaviour.

“If Hopeson Adorye believes there are no men in the NPP bold and principled enough to call him out for his uncouth and indisciplined behaviour, then he is gravely mistaken. There are men of honour, courage, and conviction in this party who will match him squarely and put him in his place whenever he steps beyond the bounds of decency and respect.”

He further challenged Mr. Adorye directly, warning to put him in his place should he disrespect the former Second Lady again.

“If indeed Mr. Adorye considers himself ‘man enough’ to threaten the Former Second Lady, despite being my friend; I call his bluff. Let him dare attempt to disrespect Hajia Samira Bawumia in any public encounter, and he will be put in his place, man to man.”

Mr. Abor described it as childish, immature, and disgraceful for any man to trade insults with a woman.

He continued, “If Mr. Adorye harbours no respect for women in Ghana, including his own wife, he should at the very least have the decency not to insult the venerable Former Second Lady of the Republic,” adding that it was not only an insult to Hajia Samira Bawumia, but also an affront to all women in the NPP and Ghana at large.

Mr. Abor then called on all women in the New Patriotic Party to condemn Mr. Adorye’s behaviour and urged every NPP member to defend the dignity of their leaders and maintain civility in politics.

“Such toxic conduct has no place in Ghana’s democratic and respectful political culture,” he said.
