A member of Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong’s campaign team, Ofosu Asamoah, has dismissed reports suggesting that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant failed to pay the party’s development levy.
According to him, Ing. Agyepong was allowed to participate in the balloting process today which signifies that he has fulfilled all obligations.
Speaking to the media at the NPP headquarters after the balloting exercise on Friday, October 10, the campaign representative said the claims saying otherwise were simply rumors.
“We don’t have any problem with the party. If we had any problem, they would’ve prevented us from partaking in the process,” he noted.
When asked about reports circulating that Ing. Agyepong had not paid the development levy, he maintained his response.
“They’re only rumors. We have satisfied all the conditions, that is why we have participated in the final process leading to the printing of the ballot paper, which will be used on the 31st of January.”
Upon being questioned further to confirm whether the fee had been paid, he declined to give a direct answer, instead directing reporters to the party’s finance department.
“We are right in front of the headquarters, go there and find out,” he said.
Mr. Asamoah also dismissed claims that the aspirant was facing disqualification from the race.
“You are saying we were given 48 hours, and the 48 hours expired yesterday. And today, there has been a further process subsequent to the 48 hours, which is the balloting.”
He added, “We have successfully taken part, and I’m sure everyone in the world has seen it, including you.”
Earlier reports indicated that the NPP Elections Committee had given Ing. Kwabena Agyepong 48 hour to settle the 4.6 million Ghana cedis development levy or risk disqualification from the presidential primaries.
Ing. Kwabena Agyepong has however not been disqualified and has secured the fifth position on the ballot for the January 31, 2026 NPP presidential primaries.
