Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, has described the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a “419 government”.
He is also accusing members of the NDC of being complicit in the illegal mining (galamsey) menace.
Speaking on Metro TV on September 30, the MP alleged that the NDC has long been at the centre of the galamsey menace.
“Galamsey started long ago. And those who are champions in galamsey are the NDC. That’s a fact,” he said,
“Galamsey started in their time, when they were in government long ago.”
He also criticised the President Mahama administration for failing to deliver on promises to tackle illegal mining with modern solutions.
“They promised Ghana that they were going to use artificial intelligence, they were even going to use state of emergency,” he noted.
He further challenged the government, saying,
“They cannot do it. This is what we call a 419 government.”
The New Juaben South MP also alleged that some members of the current government who were did not receive appointments have turned to galamsey.
“They have decided consciously to devastate this country. It is the intentional plan of government to destroy water bodies and make sure Ghana goes down,” he professed.
