The Ashanti Region is is set to bid its final farewell to the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, today Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III, passed away on August 7, 2025 at the age of 98 after serving as Asantehemaa since February 2017.
She was the 14th Asantehemaa and the biological sister of the current Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The fourth and final day of the “Dɔte Yie” funeral rites will move from the Manhyia Palace to the Bantama Mausoleum, before a solemn ceremony at the Royal Mausoleum at Breman.
The four-day “Dɔte Yie” funeral rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III began on Monday, September 15.
A filing past was held each day from Monday to Wednesday, 5 a.m to 5 p.m, with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, sitting in state from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m to receive mourners.

However, today, September 18, the filing past will run from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the burial service at 3 p.m.
In an announcement made while observing the one week of mourning for the queen at the Manhyia Palace on August 21, 2025, a senior linguist of the Asantehene, instructed that today will be observed as a day of quiet and solemness.
He stated, “Asanteman will go completely silent. No shops will be opened. There will be no travel or human movement. The remains of our revered Asantehemaa will be conveyed to Bantama during the night. It is important that no one is met on the way, as doing so will be at the person’s own peril. Late at night, the remains will be moved in solemn procession to the final resting place in Breman.”
Videos circulating on social media in the early hours of Thursday show that the Ashanti people are complying as shops, schools and business are all closed.
The residential curfew will be implemented in the Ashanti Kingdom from 3:00 p.m today to dawn on Friday, September 19.
During this period, all residents are required to remain indoors, with only the royal procession and designated security personnel permitted on the streets.
The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council also announced on Wednesday that essential service providers must wear official uniforms and carry valid identification cards during the unprecedented movement restrictions.
As the Ashanti Kingdom prepares to lay Nana Konadu Yiadom III to rest, Ghanaians across the country are taking to social media to share their condolences and reflect on her legacy.
