Energy Committee Chairman refuses ECG’s tariff increment request

The Chairman of the Energy Committee of Parliament, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedrah, says he will not approve of Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) proposal to increase Distribution Service Charge (DSC1) by 225%.

He revealed that ECG’s request proposal has already drawn criticism from his committee members, saying “On my committee’s page, it was bipartisan bashing of ECG.”

Mr. Bedrah further indicated his intention to formally communicate the committee’s stance to the P

“I’m going to call the PURC Executive Secretary that he shouldn’t bring it to us,” he said, and questioned, “How can you increase ECG tariff to 225%?”
