GoldBod to donate GHS5 million, 5 pickups to support fight against galamsey

The CEO of Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has announced that GoldBod will make donations to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) in its clampdown on illegal mining activities.

According to him, GoldBod will next week donate five Toyota Hilux pickups and GHS5 million to support NAIMOS in the fight against galamsey.

Speaking at the Mining and Minerals Convention in Accra on Tuesday, 9th September, Sammy Gyamfi assured the commitment of the GoldBod to Government’s avowed flight against the illegal mining menace.

“We at GoldBod recognise the importance of responsible mining and sourcing to the long-term sustainability and viability of Ghana’s mining sector,” he stated.

“To this end, the GoldBod will next week, donate five (5) Toyota Hilux pickups and an amount of GHS5 million to support the work of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS),” continued Mr. Gyamfi.

In addition, Sammy Gyamfi revealed that GoldBod has made significant financial allocations to support the reclamation of 1,000 hectares of devastated forest reserves, which is set to begin in November 2025.

He also also stated that as part of its corporate social responsibility policy intended to start October 2025, GoldBod will support mining communities with potable water systems, modern education and health facilities, scholarships for brilliant but needy students, among others.
