The Ministry of Education is set to deepen its collaboration with World Vision Ghana to promote inclusive education, strengthen child protection, and address pressing infrastructure deficits across the country.
The partnership was discussed during a courtesy call by a delegation from World Vision Ghana led by the National Director, Mr. Jean-Claude Mukadi, on the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, in Accra.
The Minister expressed his profound appreciation to World Vision for its contributions to Ghana’s development over the past 45 years, especially in vulnerable communities. He noted that education in the 21st century must be safe, skills-driven, and inclusive. He therefore called on World Vision to collaborate with the Ministry in promoting child online protection and the responsible use of mobile phones by children.
The Minister further called for support in the area of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which remains a top priority for the Ministry.
“If we are to solve youth unemployment, TVET must be taken seriously. We need help retooling and equipping our TVET institutions to prepare the next generation for the job market,” he stated.
Mr. Mukadi welcomed the call for partnership and reaffirmed World Vision Ghana’s commitment to supporting the Ministry’s initiatives.
He also pledged to collaborate with the Ministry in developing a digital education policy, as well as in helping to address infrastructure and furniture deficits in schools across the country.
World Vision Ghana also pledged specific support toward the Ministry’s sanitary pad project and the construction of changing rooms for girls in schools, aimed at promoting menstrual hygiene and reducing school absenteeism among adolescent girls.
These areas of collaboration are well-aligned with World Vision Ghana’s strategic focus, which includes: Education, Health and Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Livelihoods, Child Protection Advocacy, Faith and Development, and Disaster Risk Reduction.
