A team of National Security operatives and Police officers have descended on the residence of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The security forces have surrounded the premises, though the exact reason for the operation remains unclear.
It is also uncertain whether Chairman Wontumi is present at the location.
Reports indicate that tensions are running high as heavily armed officers maintain their stance around the compound.
