Ghana does not ‘need’ a cedi appreciation – NPP Communications Director Richard Ahiagbah

Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah has said that he doesn’t understand why the government and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is celebrating the cedi’s recent performance against major currencies in the world.

According to Richard Ahiagbah, Ghanaians do not need a cedi appreciation but they need jobs like the NDC promised with their 24-hour economic policy before the 2024 general elections.

He argued that the government needs jobs for the people of Ghana and a stronger currency will help achieve that target because the economy must be production led as the Chinese have demonstrated.

Richard Ahiagbah while speaking on the cedi’s performance against the Dollar and other major currencies in the world like the Euro and Pounds on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana Show on Thursday, May 22, 2025, said credit must also be given to the NPP.
