2025 Budget to Ease Hardships and Create Jobs in Fulfillment of Government’s Promises – Sammy Gyamfi

The Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi, has expressed confidence that the 2025 budget will alleviate economic hardships and create jobs, in line with the government’s manifesto promises.

Speaking to journalists ahead of the Finance Minister’s fiscal policy presentation on Monday, March 11, Gyamfi emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling its pledges to the people of Ghana.

“We were very clear in our minds about the promises we made to the people of this country in the run-up to the 2024 polls. Our promises were well thought through, and we knew that the policies we proposed were pragmatic and implementable. We will not face any difficulties in keeping faith with the people of Ghana,” he stated.

Gyamfi added, “The change we voted for is here, and I am very optimistic that by the time the Finance Minister concludes his budget presentation, many Ghanaians will find hope in his words. We are going to have a budget that responds to our needs and aspirations—a budget that will ease hardships, create jobs, foster prosperity for all, and uphold the social contract that the NDC has with the people of this country.”

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is set to present the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament, marking the first comprehensive financial roadmap of the Mahama administration since assuming office.

The highly anticipated budget is expected to outline bold policy measures aimed at stabilizing the economy, fostering growth, and addressing the nation’s fiscal challenges. With Ghana still grappling with high debt levels, inflation, and unemployment, all eyes are on Dr. Forson to unveil strategies that will provide relief to businesses and households while setting the country on a path to recovery.

A key highlight of the budget is the anticipated removal of several controversial taxes, including the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), the COVID-19 Health Levy, and the Betting Tax. These levies, introduced by the previous administration, were widely criticized for increasing the financial burden on citizens.

The 2025 budget is expected to reflect the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises and addressing the pressing economic challenges facing the nation.
