Mobile Money Vendor Shot Dead in Manso-Asamang

A 33-year-old mobile money vendor, Augustine Mensah, was tragically shot and killed by unknown assailants in Manso-Asamang, located in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, after Augustine had closed for the day. He was called by a customer to perform a transaction, and on his way home afterward, he was attacked and fatally shot. A passerby rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

This murder comes just two weeks after the death of Patricia Nimako, a woman in her thirties, who was also shot and killed at her mobile money shop in Krofrom, Kumasi. Patricia was laid to rest on Thursday, February 27, 2025, but her family is still awaiting justice as no arrests have been made in her case.

The recent incident in Manso-Asamang has sent shockwaves through the community, with many residents deeply affected. Authorities have launched an investigation into the murder. Stephen Agyei, a local opinion leader, confirmed the incident to Citi News, adding that Augustine’s body has been sent to St. Martin’s Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
