11 Injured in Head-On Collision at Eduadjei on Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway

A road traffic accident at Eduadjei along the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway has resulted in 11 people sustaining injuries.

The Ghana National Fire Service in the Central Region reported that the crash occurred at about 7:30 p.m. The collision involved an Opel Astra with registration number WR 4860-13, which was traveling from Cape Coast towards Komenda, and a Nissan mini bus with registration number CR 1414-23, heading in the opposite direction from Takoradi to Cape Coast.

Ten occupants of the Nissan mini bus — made up of eight men and two women — were assisted out of the vehicle by bystanders and rushed to the Elmina Polyclinic for medical attention.

Personnel from the Fire Service carefully extricated the driver of the Opel Astra, who was trapped in his vehicle after the impact. He was later handed over to the National Ambulance Service and transported to the same health facility for treatment.

Emergency responders subsequently cleared debris from the highway to allow traffic to flow freely and to prevent further incidents at the scene.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of the crash.
