‘10 years since you were taken from us’ – Wife of late JB Danquah’s emotional tribute

The wife of the late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, Hon. Joseph Kofi Kyeretwie Boakye Danquah-Adu, has marked the 10th anniversary of his death with an emotional message to her late husband, describing his continued presence in their lives a decade after his murder.

According to her, although 10 years have now passed since his death, his values, counsel and example remain deeply rooted in their family and continue to guide them daily.

In a Facebook post shared on February 9, 2026, to mark the anniversary of his killing, she reflected on his life of service and the lasting impact he left behind.

“Ten years have passed since you were taken from us, yet not a day goes by without your presence being felt in our hearts and lives.

You lived your life in service to God, your family, your constituency, and Ghana, and you did so with humility, diligence, principle and an indelible smile.

Your values endure. Your counsel still guides us. Your example still instructs us.”

“As we mark ten years of remembrance, we thank God for the gift of your life and for the years we shared with you. We will continue to honour your memory, not only in words, but in deeds that reflect the values you stood for.”

Hon. Joseph Kofi Kyeretwie Boakye Danquah-Adu was a sitting Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa North constituency when he was fatally stabbed at his residence in Shiashie, Accra, in the early hours of February 9, 2016.

A decade after the killing, the case remains unresolved, despite prolonged investigations and court proceedings.

Investigators earlier revealed that the assailant or assailants allegedly used a ladder to access the house through a window that was not burglar-proof.

Two suspects, Daniel Asiedu and Vincent Bosso, were arrested shortly after the murder and charged with robbery and murder.

However, In early 2024, the accomplice Vincent Bosso was acquitted and discharged after the court ruled that no prima facie evidence had been established against him.

Then, on December 4, 2024, a seven-member jury returned a split 4:3 not guilty verdict on both charges against Daniel Asiedu.

Under the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960, a 4:3 jury decision amounts to a hung jury and is insufficient to secure either a conviction or an acquittal.

The presiding judge subsequently discharged the jury and ordered a retrial.

Daniel Asiedu remains in custody at the Nsawam Prison as he awaits the commencement of a fresh trial.
